The biking route is not only faster but also refreshingly enjoyable. The entire trip covers approximately 12 kilometers round trip (6 kilometers one way) and typically takes 3 to 4 hours to complete.
Lagoons and Their Secrets
As you journey to the Wall of Tears, you’ll encounter an abundance of breathtaking sights and natural wonders. In the beginning, immerse yourself in the serene wetlands where elegant flamingos call home. Marvel at the brackish lagoons, known for their mesmerizing color shifts from green to pink throughout the day.
Beaches with distinct personalities await you. Explore Playa del Amor, where iguanas sunbathe, and the sands glisten with pearl shells. Estero Beach resembles a scene from a fairytale, hidden amidst colossal mangrove forests. Here, you can wade into a tranquil pool that beckons you toward the open ocean. Keep an eye out for baby reef fish concealed within the mangroves, sea turtles basking in the calm waters, and the occasional appearance of sea lions and penguins.

At the end of your journey, you’ll find the Wall of Tears, a striking monument constructed entirely from lava rocks. This haunting wall serves as a solemn reminder of the harsh conditions endured by prisoners who were exiled to Isabela between 1946 and 1959. Many prisoners lost their lives in the grueling living conditions. This poignant historical site offers a unique insight into the island’s past.
