Galápagos Coffee & Fruit Farm Tour
Escape the coast and discover a completely different side of Isabela Island on this immersive journey through the lush highlands of Sierra Negra. Long before tourism arrived in the Galápagos, local families relied on these fertile volcanic soils to grow their own food, coffee, and fruit—a tradition that continues today.
Thanks to the island’s different altitudes and unique microclimates, an incredible variety of crops thrive naturally throughout the year. Even better, the Galápagos’ strict biosecurity regulations mean farms can grow their produce organically, without pesticides, allowing fruits to ripen naturally before being picked straight from the tree.
Visit a traditional coffee farm where you’ll harvest coffee cherries by hand, roast your own beans, and enjoy one of the world’s most exclusive coffees. Then continue to a beautiful fruit sanctuary filled with exotic tropical fruits, giant tortoises, and friendly farm animals.
Whether you’re passionate about food, sustainability, or simply looking to experience authentic island life, this tour offers a refreshing perspective on the Galápagos beyond its famous wildlife.

Galápagos Coffee & Fruit Farm Tour Itinerary: What to Expect
Coffee Harvest & Traditional Coffee Workshop
Your adventure begins in the fertile highlands of Sierra Negra at a traditional coffee farm, where coffee plants grow naturally beneath the shade of banana trees. Learn how coffee is cultivated in the Galápagos and discover why the island’s volcanic soil and climate create ideal growing conditions.
Walk through the plantation as you harvest ripe coffee cherries directly from the plants before following the complete production process. Roast the beans over an open fire, grind them by hand, and finish the experience with a freshly brewed cup of authentic Galápagos coffee—prepared entirely by you.
Over approximately two and a half hours, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind every cup while experiencing one of the island’s oldest agricultural traditions.
Exotic Fruit Sanctuary & Life on the Farm
After the coffee workshop, continue to a peaceful family-owned fruit farm surrounded by tropical vegetation. Depending on the season, stroll among countless fruit trees and taste freshly picked delicacies straight from the branches. You may discover unfamiliar flavours such as cherimoya, soursop, star apple and many more.
As you explore the property, you might encounter Galápagos giant tortoises wandering freely between the pineapple fields, sharing the harvest just as they have for decades. Meet the farm animals that are part of everyday life on Isabela, including the property’s famous rooster, Ferrari, and learn how local families continue to live from these fertile lands.
After approximately one and a half hours immersed in the island’s green highlands, you’ll return to Puerto Villamil with a new appreciation for the people, traditions and landscapes that make life in the Galápagos so unique.

Can I choose the tour start time?
Yes. Since this is a private tour, there are no fixed departure times. We are happy to adjust the schedule to fit your travel plans, whether you are arriving by ferry, departing later in the day, or simply prefer a different start time.
Is the fruit available year-round?
The farm produces fruit throughout the year, but the varieties available depend on the season. Every visit offers a unique opportunity to discover and taste whatever is naturally ripe at the time.
Can I buy coffee or local products?
Absolutely! If you fall in love with the coffee, you can purchase freshly roasted organic Galápagos coffee to take home. The fruit farm also offers delicious homemade fruit marmalades and other locally made products. You are welcome to take fresh fruit back to your hotel, but please note that fresh fruits cannot be transported between Galápagos Islands due to biosecurity regulations.
Do I need to be a coffee lover to enjoy this tour?
Not at all! While coffee is one of the highlights, the experience is about much more than coffee. You’ll walk through beautiful orchards, taste seasonal tropical fruits, learn about sustainable farming, meet local farmers, and enjoy the peaceful scenery of the Galápagos highlands.
Is this tour still worth it if I've already visited the farm during the Sulphur Mines Tour?
Yes! While the Sulphur Mines Tour includes a stop at the farm, the Organic Coffee & Fruit Farm Tour is a completely different experience. Instead of a brief visit, you’ll have time to explore the plantation, learn how organic Galápagos coffee is grown and processed, taste freshly brewed coffee and seasonal tropical fruits, and discover the farm’s sustainable practices. It’s a relaxed, immersive experience that lets you connect with the people, flavors, and traditions of Isabela Island in much greater depth.
Will I see giant tortoises during the tour?
Possibly! The farm is located in the lush highlands of Isabela Island, where wild Galápagos giant tortoises are often seen roaming freely. While sightings cannot be guaranteed, as these are wild animals, it’s not uncommon to encounter them in their natural habitat, especially during certain times of the year (Agust-September).
Is this a good tour if I want a break from the heat?
Absolutely! The farm is located in the cooler highlands of Isabela Island, where the higher elevation creates a refreshing climate. Surrounded by lush vegetation and shaded fruit trees, you’ll enjoy a peaceful escape from the coastal heat while exploring one of the greenest parts of the Galápagos.
Is this tour a good option if I've already done the popular wildlife tours?
Definitely! Many guests enjoy this experience because it offers a different perspective on the Galápagos. Instead of focusing on marine wildlife, you’ll discover the islands’ agricultural traditions, local culture, and beautiful highland landscapes.
Does this tour include lunch?
No, lunch is not included as part of the standard tour. However, if you’d like to enjoy a delicious meal after your visit, we can arrange lunch at the farm for a small additional fee. Just let us know when booking, and we’ll be happy to organize it for you.
